Alexander Technique Lessons

To learn the Alexander Technique you need to take a course of individual lessons with a qualified teacher, it cannot be learned from a book or video. The Technique offers you a self help tool you can use for the rest of your life.

I use explanation, discussion and gentle touch to guide you as you explore simple everyday movements, such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, to help you to rediscover your natural balance and poise. With my help you will be able to experience yourself moving with less effort and tension, and learn to prevent it yourself.

Part of the lesson usually involves lying down, there is no need to remove any clothing. The lessons are structured according to your individual needs and abilities.

You'll gradually learn how to apply the principles of the Technique to your everyday life. For example, it can help improve the way you walk, sit at the computer, do gardening, play a musical instrument, ride a horse or pick up something heavy.

"Having lessons in the Alexander Technique is not something that is done to you but a collaborative experience with the teacher. I have found this very empowering, knowing that I have some control over my health and how I face life."

How many lessons?

Most people will gain some benefit from just a few lessons, and an introductory lesson or two can give you a better idea of what the Technique can do for you.

A course of 20-30 regular lessons is recommended and provides a good foundation for ongoing use of the Technique in every day life. You can always return for refreshers from time to time.

How much does it cost?

Lessons cost £28 for 40 minutes, but the introductory lesson is £35 and lasts approximately 50–60 minutes. A series of lessons is recommended.

There are reductions for block bookings paid in advance, and concessions can be made for those in financial hardship.
